Charlemagne Wine Club - 2005 Tastings

Monday 18th April 2005
Rhone wines from Berry Bros. & Rudd presented by Alun Griffiths MW
Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchant. In 1698 the Widow Bourne founded her shop opposite St James’s Palace. Beneath the shop are the original Georgian vaulted cellars still cellaring over 100,000 bottles of wine though not all from the 15th century!
The company has continued to grow and prosper and recently received the accolade “Wine Merchant of the Year” at the International Wine Challenge. They also picked up awards for “London Wine Merchant of the Year”, “Wine Website of the the Year”, and “Creativity in Retail Award” for their Heathrow wine shops. The list of wines is enormous and the roster of growers is most impressive.
Alun Griffiths MW is Wine Director at Berrys and will be selecting from their list of over 70 Rhone wines for your delectation.
Should you wish, there will be an opportunity to buy any wines that catch your fancy on the evening or you can savour the atmosphere with a visit to the shop at 3 St James’s Street.
