Charlemagne Wine Club - 2005 Tastings

Monday 12th December 2005
Château Beaucastel presented by Sandy Leckie
Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Picpoul, Picardin and Bourboulenc are just a few of the grape varieties you will taste this evening.
One of the great Domaines of France, Château de Beaucastel makes wine from all 13 of the permitted Châteauneuf du Pape varieties, principally Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah with the vines averaging over 50 years old.
“ The result of the effort and innovation of three generations of the Perrin family is clearly evident when one has the pleasure of tasting a good vintage of Château de Beaucastel at its peak. If one word can describe the red wines of Beaucastel it must be “pure”: pure because they are the natural expression of the earth and the grapes from whence they came. “
Sandy will be showing vintages of both the grand vin and Coudoulet de Beaucastel, the Domaine’s second wine
