Eclectic Greek Wines with Mary Pateras
Mary Pateras is returning to Charlemagne with a collection of quality Greek wines. For those in the know, the fact that Greece is well capable of producing quality wines for every occasion will come as no surprise. Gone are the heavily oxidised and resinated whites, replaced by racy, refreshing fruity and floral flavours and aromas.
The grape names Robola, Aghiorgitiko, Xinomavro, Assyrtiko and Moschofilero may be less familiar than Chardonnay, Cabernet or Shiraz but Mary wants to change that. "I'm going to make a big noise about Greek wines", she says, and rightly so.
Eclectic Wines is an importer of top quality Greek wine, from vineyards stretching from Macedonia in the north to the volcanic island of Santorini in the south. Their common link is that they are all made by producers committed to quality.
