Charlemagne Wine Club - 2004 Tastings

Monday 21st June 2004
Wimbledon Wine Cellar presented by Ben Brenninkmeyer and Stuart Rae
This month sees the welcome return for Wimbledon Wine Cellar who presented a fine collection of Italian wines to us exactly two years ago. On this occasion Ben Brenninkmeyer and Stuart Rae want us to enjoy the heady aromas and flavours of the South of France in the Rhone Valley. Their selection will include Syrah and Viognier from the North and the classic grape varieties as found in Chateuneuf du Pape and the villages of the Southern Rhone.
Wimbledon Wine Cellar was founded in 1986 by Andrew Pavli, the present owner. A second store was opened in Chiswick in 2000. In the following year they were named the UK’s Best Small Independent Merchant at the International Wine Challenge.
Over the years they have built a reputation for holding one of the largest ranges of any fine wine retailer in the UK as can be witnessed by a visit to their stores. In store tastings are conducted on a regular basis but as a special treat they will visit us for a tasting at Broughton Road.
