Cabernet Franc and the Loire Valley Project presented by Lindsay Oram

Loire reds are often underappreciated, and have little presence in export markets. With this in mind, the official body for Loire wines, InterLoire, devised a special initiative to adapt Loire reds for the 21st Century and then tell people all about them. Named ‘Project Cabernet Franc’, it brought in wine consultant Sam Harrop MW to work with the InterLoire technical team to write a winemaking protocol for producing more export friendly reds. The results of the initiaitive were on display at the International Wine Fair last year and this. The benefits have been such that the process is being repeated for the classic white Loire grape, Chenin Blanc.
