Greece is blessed with over three hundred varieties of local grapes. Wines produced from some of them, such as Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko, Mavrodaphne, Moschofilero, Roditis and Savvatiano, have gained a place in international enological circles. Moreover, wines from international varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah have been produced successfully in many areas of Greece.

Nick Contarines started importing Greek wines in 1995. Since then, many delightful Greek wines have flowed through the palate of British consumers. Their enjoyment, claims Nick, is why he is still selling Greek wines - the real value of which lies in their quality and diversity. The Greek Wine Experience and Yamas Wines offer wines from medium-size, family-owned wineries of known regions such as Nemea, Patras, Samos, Evia and Santorini.
